Firstly, a diploma is more flexible and has a less rigid program, this means it is easier to upgrade and make changes to the course, to sync with the ever changing industry. Secondly, a degree program is often theory based, and lacks hand on experience that a Diploma program provides. This flexibility also allows us to enter into students exchange programs with international institutes.
What does the 3 year program consist of ?
The three year course is designed with a broader curriculum which gives the students a wider choice in real life. It allows students to mature into their final subjects of specialisation. It also gives them an opportunities to experiment, which will not be possible once they enter the professional world. Only by experimenting students create their individual style, which is crucial in this competitive world. Any serious creative course needs at least three years to cover a meaningful syllabus.
What does a One Year Professional Certificate Program consist of ?
One Year Professional Certificate Program is a skill based program which offers specialization in one particular genre. This course involves in depth study of the subject guided by the experienced professionals from the industry.
What is Difference between a Three Year and the One Year Program ?
1- Three Year program develops both vision and skill where as one year program is skill based.
2- Three year program covers multiple genres of photography where as one year program will cover only one genre / filed.
What is a Three month Certificate Program ?
This program is designed for the people who already have a fair understanding of photography and want to further their skills. This program will provide advanced training in a particular genre / field.
What is the minimum qualification and criteria for admission.
A genuine passion for photography and the creative arts. Plus a good portfolio and a working knowledge of English.

What will the student need for the course?
Students are required to have a MacBook Pro laptop, a professional or semi-professional level DSLR and a sturdy tripod. Students are requested not to buy any new equipment before the course commences, that is because, they will get concessional rates on laptops and cameras, and will be guided by the faculty as to what equipment is optimal for them.
Who are the permanent faculty members and do you have experts for special subjects ?
Shantanu Sheorey is the head of The One School Goa. Mahesh Bhat is the head of Photography. They are supported by senior and junior, professionally qualified staff. Plus there are Indian and international professionals as visiting faculty teaching their area of expertise.
How will assessments be carried out?
Written examinations will only be conducted in a few subjects. However due to the program being based on practical learning, most assessments are project based. During the course of these projects, students will be individually mentored, and will be judged on their application and execution of the subject. All projects are strict deadline based. There is a mid project review and a final review. This method makes sure that the student is continually working on the project. At the end of every semester, students are reviewed by an external jury consisting of eminent professionals.
Can a student switch between Photography and Multimedia subjects ?
Yes. Today, equipment / cameras have become common between the two fields, thus we encourage the students to exploit the possibilities to the hilt, through an exchange of subject matters and experiment with new approaches. This is because the boundaries between the still images and moving images are blurring rapidly, and a lot of techniques are similar.
How safe is Goa for students and how is the academic infrastructure there?
Goa is considered the best and safest city state for students. The Goa government is backing education in a big way and is in the process of building new educational hubs. Goa has been ranked the top state for best quality of life in India, by the National Commission on Population, and features excellent infrastructure and culture. Goa hosts many art and cultural festivals. There are many leading Management, Hospitality, Medical and Engineering colleges in Goa. A large number of secondary schools spread all over Goa, makes student culture very rich.
What kind of accommodation is available?
Accommodation for students is through fully furnished, semi-luxurious apartments in the neighbourhood (within 4 to 6 kms). Two students to a bedroom, thus a maximum of four students will share a two bedroom apartment, or six students in a three bedroom apartment. Students who want a single occupancy room, can do so, at an extra cost. Residential accommodation, includes rentals and basic housekeeping. For their safety, all girls accommodation will be in one gated society.
What are the transportation arrangements for students?
There will be a chargeable bus service for students transportation to and from the school. As per our experience, most students tend to have their own vehicles.
What is the food arrangement for students on campus?
Lunch – buy paid coupons for a buffet lunch on campus. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
What are the medical facilities around the college?
The school is situated only 2.5km from Mapusa, which is the third largest city in Goa, and there are 4 large hospitals which are less than 10 to 15 minutes from the School and the accommodation.
