ART OF SEEING
Photography is not about cameras, or gear, or technology; it’s about opening your eyes to see.
It’s incredibly exciting to guide people as they open up their vision. For workshop participants, it’s a unique
chance to learn how a professional photographer approaches a subject. This is not something that can be
learned in a textbook. For a student to sit with a photographer and look deeply into the details of his or her
own work is a very special opportunity.
GOA IN THE RAINS
Monsoons in Goa is an ethereal experience. Its lush green all over, ponds, lakes, rivers and other water
bodies are over flowing. Though it rains heavily life doesn’t stop. People put on rain coats and travel several
kilometers on their two wheelers without complaining. Others sit on the bridges and culverts and fish.
Chai shops here and there sell piping hot vada pau and chai in the evenings. Paddy cultivation goes on full
swing. In short Goa turns into paradise. The workshop is about going beyond techniques and evoking the
poet in you and helps you to make great pictures during so called ‘ bad weather’!
Workshop will be conducted over five days.
HIDDEN STORIES OF GOA
Hidden Stories of Goa is a workshop exploring photography and story telling.
We will be examining popular representations of Goa and considering what might be missing in terms of how
Goa is represented in both popular and documentary photography.
Pushing the boundaries of photography is vital to this workshop – the desire to experiment and and explore
your imagination are imperative as well as curiosity for your subject.
SHOOTING A TRAVEL STORY
Learn how to shoot a travel story for a Travel Magazine like National Geographic Traveler , Conde Nast
Traveller etc. It involves getting under the surface of a place, showing its true essence, making the viewer
feel like he / she is having that experience, understanding the culture, making the place looks appealing and
wonderful. Learning how to shoot an opener, the wide shot, details, food, restaurants, hotels, street scenes,
and especially people. Thinking about the layout. How to “set up” a shot when necessary.
Emphasis is on making photos that show how a place feels rather than just how it looks.
